Week of January 21, 2019
Jesus Chooses His Disciples
Matthew 4:18-22; 10:2-4
Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Letter of the Week
We will be having Structured Sharing. Our sharing days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Monday, we will meet our Alpha-Friend for the week and on Friday we will be doing a writing activity using the things we brought for sharing. Your child may bring something to share any of those days (Tuesday-Thursday) that starts with the sound for Gg as in goose.
Word of the Week
Keep working on your Lego Words! Review the old ones, too!
This week we will be working on:
Naming a shape piece using 2 attributes (shape and color)
Identifying a missing piece in a matrix
Describing the relative position of objects
Writing the number 9
Working with Geoboards
We will begin our week learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. and then we will practice his principles of being fair, working together, being kind to others, and getting along.
Our color for the month of January is white. We will be using white for as many activities as possible. We will learn American Sign Language for white. We will also work on how to spell white. Our shape of the month is a parallelogram. To help with the correlation between a parallelogram and real objects in our world, we have a space in our classroom to make a collection of parallelogram shaped objects. Please help your child find an object or two for our collection, put his name on it, and send it to school. The objects will be returned at the end of the month. Once again good luck!

Third Quarter Mission Project
Our Mission Project for the third quarter is Peru. During NLSW we will be participating in an on-line mission trip to learn about Peru and how we are able to help the kids there. On Monday your child will be bringing home a bank that he has decorated to put coins in. When those banks are filled, we have a container in our classroom for the offering banks to be emptied into (any day). On Friday, we will take the offerings that are in our classroom container to chapel. Our goal is to collect $300.
Thanks you for remembering to send offerings for Timber Bay. We met and exceeded our goal!
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Our focus word for the month of January is Speaking Kindly.
Our Bible verse is: Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs.
